The aesthetics of a city is an often ignored yet basic part of a place's character and charm. It's not a coincidence that the buildings in Jerusalem all have sandstone made façades. Just like Manhattan is known for its skyscrapers, Barcelona for its megablocks, and so on.                     MORE

It's also not a coincidence that Tel Aviv's Mediterranean and Bauhaus buildings often look just abandoned, with wires and A/C hoses all over the façades dripping everywhere. That's something a good urban planning can fix with relative ease (for example: with design guidelines added to the municipal bylaws, including grants and fines).

***It's even worse regarding Tel Aviv's case since such an abandoned look typical of third world places, is DEFINITELY not because of lack of money: Tel Aviv often features among the ten most expensive cities in the World.
