Economic Development

A vibrant city must have a thriving, sustainable and local economy. Elements like mixed use and a good commercial and industrial base go together with a good life quality and justify investments in a better infrastructure and public transportation.

Moreover, a thriving urban economy helps a municipality to collect taxes without overburdening the residents with unnecessarily high property taxes.

***The Economic Development chapter I wrote for the town of Athol, MA master plan was the best economic development project that MRPC has ever delivered. In that chapter I recommend the town to improve their telecommunication infrastructure in order to enable telecommuting (in other words: a better internet so that people can work remotely from their home offices).

P.S.: That was in 2017: when nobody had even dreamed about something like the Corona virus... that would halt societies and force people to work from home whenever possible!
